March 2026 - Campaigns Ending This Month
🔍 What This Validation Monitor Does
This month's Validation Monitor of the Month helps you stay ahead of campaign expirations by flagging anything set to end in the coming weeks.
Instead of scrambling when a campaign suddenly stops delivering, this monitor gives you visibility into what's wrapping up soon. Whether it's planning renewals, coordinating with sales teams, or making sure nothing ends unexpectedly, having that advance notice makes all the difference.
This monitor is all about being proactive. It keeps you informed so you can plan ahead rather than react when it's too late.

💡 Why It Matters
Campaign end dates have a way of sneaking up on you. One day everything's running smoothly, and the next you're getting questions about why a major campaign just stopped delivering. For renewals, advance notice is the difference between a planned conversation and a last-minute scramble.
Manually tracking end dates across dozens or hundreds of campaigns doesn't scale. This monitor does that work for you, automatically flagging campaigns that are ending soon so you can plan renewals, coordinate with stakeholders, or simply be ready when delivery stops.
It's a simple check that helps teams stay organized and proactive, especially during busy periods like quarter-end.

Example Use Case: Flag any active placements ending in the next 30 days.

Select the 'Validation' tab within the Monitoring Module
Click the pink + Add Validation Monitor button at the top right
In the 'From DataSource' dropdown, select your Freewheel source
In 'Dimension', select 'Placement'
In the first filter select 'Status' from the Field name dropdown. When you select 'Status' the filters change and the next field shows 'exists'. Change 'exists' to 'one of' This adds a third filter option, from this drop down select 'Active'
After setting the first filter row, click the blue 'Add Filter' button with the funnel icon at the bottom left. This adds another filter row
In the new filter row, search for ‘end date' and select ‘InsertionOrder.Campaign.end_date’ from the Field name dropdown. Change the middle filter from ‘exists' to ‘is before'. In the third filter field, enter '30' and select 'days' from the dropdown, and don't forget to select either 'ago' or 'from now'. For the sake of this monitor, we recommend 'from now'. Tip: You can adjust this timeframe based on how much advance notice you need - try 14 days, 30 days, or even 60 days
From here we do recommend adding more filters to make the monitor more useful for your planning. (Tip: There's no limit to the amount of filters you can add to a Validation Monitor.) For example, filtering by specific Advertiser or Campaign names helps you focus on key accounts that need renewal discussions
Name your Monitor on the right-hand side (something like "Campaigns Ending Next 30 Days" works well)
Optionally, add a description for your Monitor
There is a notification channel option, but instant alerts are not currently available for Validation Monitors (VMs), so leave this blank for now
Click Save to finish
Your monitor should look like the below:

🚀 Best Practice Tips
Adjust the timeframe: Different teams need different lead times. Sales might want 60 days notice for renewals, while operations might only need 14 days
Create multiple monitors: Set up different monitors for different timeframes (e.g., "Ending This Week" and "Ending This Month") to prioritise your attention
Filter by priority accounts: Use advertiser or order filters to create focused lists for your most important clients
Coordinate with sales: Share this monitor's output with your sales team so they can start renewal conversations early
Run it regularly: Check this monitor weekly during busy periods like quarter-end to stay on top of expirations
